From Problem-Solving to Purpose-Fulfilling

We deconstruct outdated systems to make space for what's next. Not optimizing within constraints, challenging the constraints themselves.

A quiet day for standards, a notable one for who gets to ship software. Two reported shifts on mobile platforms, and one finalized accessibility standard that is easy to miss.

Google Play adds private apps that people build for themselves with AI

Google announced that Android users can create a personal app in Google AI Studio and run it through Play on their own devices. The app does not appear in Play search or listings and only its creator can use it. At launch it is limited to adults in the US. Sharing with a small circle of friends is described as coming in the next months. A popular app can move to the public store only after trust and safety review.

Why it mattersOpinion: this moves some software from a product a team ships to a tool a person makes for one purpose. For mobile leaders it widens the set of alternatives your app competes with, mostly for narrow, personal workflows. Early and US-only, so treat it as a direction, not a trend.

Platform Phase 01 / Systemic Discovery MacRumors, 15 Oct 2026 (citing Bloomberg's Mark Gurman)

Apple reportedly invites media to an all-day 'Launch Experience' on October 28

MacRumors reports that Apple has begun inviting selected media to a launch event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28. Expected products, per the same reporting, are redesigned MacBook Pro models with touch and OLED, an OLED iPad mini and M6 refreshes. Gurman has also suggested announcements could come around October 27.

Why it mattersReported, not confirmed by Apple: the product details come from leaks. If the touch and Dynamic Island claims for the Mac prove true, input and layout assumptions in cross-platform design systems will need review. Worth a calendar note, not a plan change.

Standards Phase 04 / Adaptive Implementation Davis Wright Tremaine, Sep 2026 (older item, dated)

EN 301 549 v4.1.1 is final and points to WCAG 2.2 AA

The European standards bodies adopted the revised EN 301 549 on 24 August and published it on 2 September 2026. For web, software and document requirements it moves from WCAG 2.1 to WCAG 2.2 at levels A and AA. Its main legal effect, a presumption of conformity with the European Accessibility Act, begins only once the standard is cited in the EU Official Journal. No date for that citation was found. Separately, the W3C published a new WCAG 3.0 working draft on 10 September; it is not a recommendation and nothing in it is enforceable.

Why it mattersNothing new broke in the last 48 hours, so this is an older item kept because it changes the target. A sensible reading: build new work to WCAG 2.2 AA now, and do not plan around WCAG 3.0. Check the legal position for your markets with counsel; this is not legal advice.

More code is not more releases: Figma's own numbers point at the pipeline

Following its Config event in India, Figma put code layers into open beta and expanded its MCP tooling. Figures Figma and its executives shared, reported but not verified, put code output at roughly 17 times higher against about 1.3 times more releases.

Why it's relevantOpinion: if tools make drafting code cheaper, the constraint moves to review, testing, store submission and decision rights. A useful question for a director review: where does work wait longest between merged and in users' hands? Measure that before adding more tooling.
