From Problem-Solving to Purpose-Fulfilling

We deconstruct outdated systems to make space for what's next. Not optimizing within constraints, challenging the constraints themselves.

Design tools are being rebuilt for two audiences at once: people and the agents that read their rules. Figma's agent is now generally available with guideline files it reads on every prompt, Google has open sourced a file format for the same idea, and EU accessibility enforcement is moving by complaint instead of by audit.

AI in Design Phase 03 / Intelligence-Centered Redesign Figma release notes / 06 Oct

Figma's AI agent is generally available

The agent leaves beta, and a design library can now carry written rules that it reads on every prompt.

Why it mattersReported: per the release notes as relayed by an aggregator, teammates can watch each other's agents work on the canvas, markdown files of rules and antipatterns can be uploaded to a library, and generative plugins are also generally available. Uncertain: this is the vendor's own account and real-world quality has not been independently assessed. Opinion: once an agent reads your guidelines, those written rules are part of the product.

Design Systems Phase 04 / Adaptive Implementation Figma release notes / 05 Oct

One Figma plan can now connect several GitHub organizations

Shared design systems can stay in one place while code lives in more than one organization.

Why it mattersReported: available on Organization and Enterprise plans. Opinion: this matters wherever a single design system is consumed by more than one code team, because the handoff no longer has to be duplicated per organization.

Google open sources DESIGN.md, a file format for AI-readable design rules

Design tokens and the reasons behind them, written so an agent can follow them.

Why it mattersReported: Google released the format used by its Stitch tool under an Apache 2.0 license. Files hold tokens as YAML plus plain-text notes on why the values were chosen, with a command line tool to validate, compare and export. The project is described as alpha and is not a formal standard. The article carries no date, so treat the timing as unconfirmed. Opinion: the useful idea is writing design rules so a machine can follow them, whichever file format wins.

EAA enforcement is complaint-driven and uneven across the EU

A year in, enforcement runs through national authorities that act after complaints are filed.

Why it mattersReported: the review describes enforcement as complaint-driven, uneven across countries and accelerating, expects an updated EN 301 549 to be cited in the EU Official Journal around October 2026, and advises building and testing to WCAG 2.2 AA. Uncertain: the October timing is an expectation, so check the Official Journal before relying on it. This is a vendor blog post and older than 48 hours. Opinion: teams that audit once a year are exposed between audits.

Delegation Phase 04 / Adaptive Implementation Synthesis / 07 Oct

Name an owner for the guidelines an agent reads

Agents on shared canvases raise a delegation question: who owns the rules, and who reviews what ships?

Why it's relevantOpinion, drawing on today's Figma items: name an owner for the guidelines before adoption, not after the first drift, and decide who reviews agent output. For a director-led mobile team this is a clean delegation: one named owner per guideline set, with a review rule the director can audit.
