Every End is a New Beginning
On endings, and what they make room for.
Every end is a new beginning.
That line’s been stuck in my head all week, like a song on repeat.
I walked into a room, nerves buzzing, ready for a career conversation that could flip everything. On the whiteboard: a Post-it that read, Tomorrow is a new day.
I almost laughed. The universe and its timing.
The next morning brought the news. It was real. Tomorrow was a new day.
Here’s the twist: that same day, I found myself back at the School of Visual Arts, MFA in Design for Social Innovation. The place that launched everything. Mount Sinai. Chase. Every breakthrough that built me into the leader I am.
This time, I wasn’t the student. I was running a futures workshop, watching first-years map the impact they want to create. Eyes bright, fearless, just beginning.
And me? Standing at my own starting line.
The symmetry hit different. Endings and beginnings don’t stay in their lanes. They crash into each other, overlap, blur together. Messy and electric and alive.
Some moments mark you. This was one of them.
Standing there, watching those students dream their futures into existence while I stood at the edge of my own, I realized this isn’t just another transition. It’s the kind of inflection point that splits your life into before and after.
The weight of everything behind me, every lesson, every scar, every victory, it’s not something to carry.
It’s what catapults you into everything you’re meant to become.
And that? That changes everything.
